Named after JuYoun Lee, the founder of JY and the Deputy Publisher & Editor in Chief of Yen Press the JY imprint was started following the success of Svetlana Chmakova’s best-selling graphic novels Awkward and Brave. Since then, JY has represented some of the most beloved works for young readers, which includes original graphic novels, such as Svetlana Chmakova’s Berrybrook Middle School and The Weirn Books series, and fan favorite manga, such as Little Witch Academia.
JY also prides itself as a home to its creators, whether they be nurtured talent or established creators from overseas. “I want JY to be a comfortable home for many authors where they feel like their voices can be cultivated and heard. I am endlessly amazed at what authors can do--making comics is a lot of work!--not just in terms of their skills, but the ideas and stories they have inside are marvelous,” said JuYoun Lee. “It's my job to help them convey those messages to the readers in the best possible way and to make sure the books have a place in the market where they can reach their audience easily.”
From relatable stories about middle school students learning to find their way to fantastical stories about a young witch learning to fly, experience the wonderful stories from JY made for the young and young at heart!
